DIY paper projects: chic shelf liners
November 13th, 2008
Okay, this might seem like a no-brainer, but using gift wrap for your shelf liners is beyond easy and much prettier than using plain and boring contact paper. The possibilities are endless and one sheet can go a long way. We used Whimsy Press Boughs of Whimsy for bathroom drawers, and the bright and cheery flowers make me smile every time I open the drawer. Even a solid color brings some joy to those drab shelves and drawers. The best part? We have tons of choices at the store—both patterned and solid!

swee swee faves: whimsy press recycled wrapping paper
October 30th, 2008
We are in some serious LOVE with the new Whimsy Press wrapping paper. The designs are fun, fanciful, and stunning all at once. We heart Whimsy Press because it’s double-sided and both sides complement each other. What’s even more fantastic is that these new designs are earth friendly. They are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and printed on 100% recycled paper with soy-based inks. Check out other designs here. The pics above are patterns we carry in the store.

October 30th, 2008swee swee wrapping tip: use a belly band
October 28th, 2008Here’s another great wrapping tip–use a belly band to perk up your wrapping! Wrap a gift as you normally would and then wrap a coordinating pattern of paper around the gift (hence the name belly band). It can be a variety of sizes, depending on the size of the gift and paper pattern. In the photo above we used Whimsy Press paper, which works well because it is double-sided and the patterns are complementary. Belly bands are great because they are super easy and yet add a layer of sophistication to the package. Another idea is to choose a solid color base paper and use a decorative band to spice things up. On a budget? Wrap gifts in basic brown kraft paper and pick out 1 or 2 really beautiful papers for the bands of paper. Gorgeous!
corporate gifting: simple, yet stylish

We had a customer come in last week with a basket of apples to wrap for a corporate client. Instead of doing a traditional cellophane basket wrap and pulling the excess cellophane into a bunch at the top, we chose to pull it on the side of the basket to highlight those beautiful Washington apples…yum!
squirrels & deer & gift wrap, oh my!
October 16th, 2008Check out these gorgeous fall designs from Caskata. Their hummingbird and peony designs are staples at the store, but these fall colors are really fabulous. Think Sherlock Holmes and a study full of books, leather chairs, and British accents…okay, maybe that’s a little on the dramatic side, but really, these would work great for fall birthdays or those masculine guys on your list. We also have note sets with these great designs. Check out more Caskata here.
swee swee wrapping tip: be creative with your bow!
October 16th, 2008
With the holidays fast approaching, we thought it would be fun to share some unique (and easy!) wrapping tips with you. Stay tuned for weekly tips on wrapping that extra special gift. Or better yet, stop by the store and we’ll do it for you!
Thinking outside the box when it comes to making your bow can produce beautiful results. Check out the flower bow above. It’s not only adorable, but it works perfectly with the theme and colors of the wrapping paper. The ribbon used is not the conventional satin or organdy, but instead thin, fuzzy, and wired, which allows it to be bent into petals.
We would love to hear from you! Do you have a fun tip or trick for wrapping a beautiful gift? Share it with us! Leave us a comment or send to store@sweesweepaperie.com.
